Yoga, Qigong and Mindfulness Meditation: Finding Balance and Ease
Mimi has created this unique and accessible video integrating three distinct and complimentary practices of yoga, qigong and mindfulness meditation.
The cross-pollination of vinyasa yoga with qigong - a Chinese energy and healing art with roots in Daoist and Buddhist traditions - results in a balance that is simultaneously soft yet strong, fluid yet also rooted, centred and stable. When these practices are paired with the teachings of mindfulness, our ability to find balance, strength and ease is fostered alongside greater clarity, kindness and compassion.
1. Meditation and Mindful Yoga/Qigong Flow: This first section begins with a five-minute mindfulness meditation practice to help establish a sense of embodied presence, followed by a dynamic vinyasa flow and qigong sequence of sun salutations that will recruit the primary muscles and joints in the body. The use of visualisations and intention from qigong will help release energetic states of imbalance and tension, and set the stage for creating greater ease, openness and balance.
2. Finding Balance - Fluid and Strong Standing Poses: This second section integrates strong standing pose work in horse stance and warrior poses that are combined with fluid, water-based qigong forms. Together, these move toward a state of harmonious balance and steadiness.
3. Finding Ease - Effortless Effort: This third section offers a gentle flow that will restore and replenish your energy. Qigong practices that blend yin and yang, as well as a juicy hip, twist and backbend sequence will leave you ready for a delicious relaxation in savasana and finish.

The Yoga & QiGong by Mimi Kuo-Deemer is t so pleasantly presented with a calm voice, not too much and annoying chatter, asanas wonderfully executed and good pointers to what you should pay attention to. I am able to follow all the more difficult variations. They are just my cup of tea. ☕ However, she offers easier variations as well, so I guess that a beginner-level practitioner who has attended one or two yoga classes kind of regularly can easily follow as well.
I thank Mimi and everyone who made these shootings possible for these DVDs/downloadable videos. 🙏 They are a treasure trove in the flood of the DVDs produced on yoga.
